Pension Credits

Claim pension credit and qualify for extra £324

The government is today (8 December) calling on pensioners to check if they are entitled to Pension Credit as soon as possible, and by 18 December, to ensure they stand the best chance of qualifying for an extra £324 cost-of-living payment.

Pension Credit is designed to help people with daily living costs who are over State Pension age and on a low income, though individuals do not need to be in receipt of State Pension to receive it.

Pension Credit can be claimed by phone and online. An online Pension Credit calculator is available to help pensioners check if they’re likely to be eligible and get an estimate of what they may receive.

The Department for Work and Pensions has produced a toolkit which includes guidance for organisations on encouraging pensioners to claim Pension Credit.
